Press Release: On the Recent Flash Floods

Singapore experienced one of the worst flash floods in recent memory when our shopping centres along some parts of Orchard Road were immersed in water after a heavy downpour. Hamburgers, overpriced coffee, designer bags and iphones were washed out from the shops. Apparently, someone once said that the rainwater will be flushed out before your coffee cools down. How untrue.

But seriously, this is not a national disaster. No lives were lost, and I do not think anyone was injured by the floating hamburgers. So what is the problem? Perhaps, we are so agitated to see Hermes bags are not waterproof at all, so we decided that this should be a national issue.

Come on, we are the table tennis world champion, never mind who won it for us. We should be celebrating successes, not lamenting on why dead leaves choke the sewage system. We can't even keep the toilets in the kopitiams clean, so is it a surprise to find dead leaves in the drains?

Just count ourselves lucky that we do not experience floods like those in Bangladesh that take away thousands of lives each year. All we had was a mannequin that made his escape from the flooded Massimo Dutti boutique.
